Final Movie

Finally got my final done, so glad to get it over with. Made a power point movie with sound, I think it's ok, hopefully I will get a good grade on it. Now I ran into another problem, now it won't let me upload it, if anybody can help me, thanks in return. We got one more day after this then it is break time for the rest of the year can't wait. Final Project

Trying to figure out what I am going to do for my final project. I finally figured out that I am going to make a slide show movie. I am still thinking about what the subject will be for the movie. I think I thought of the guidelines for it; it has to be at least 20 slides, last at least 2 to 3 minutes, and you can use sound if you want. I think that is good enough. See everybody in class.

More Ideas for game

The last couple of weeks I caught a writer's block and I couldn't think of anything to put into my video game that I want to create. That all changed in a flash last night. As I was sleeping trying to get rid of the flu I caught, I had a bevy of ideas come at me in dreams. Some of the dreams were a factions to add to the game, but most of the dreams were of the story of that the main character is in. I woke up immediately and wrote them down. I woke up and read and i'm really surprised by how good the story sounded, to me, but I let some people read it and see how they like it. Goodbye, have a great Turkey day.

Thanksgiving

Hello everybody, how is everybody doing on this cool, autumn day. The semester is almost done, so enjoy while it last. Everybody should get ready for the crunch time that is coming up quickly. Today is Thanksgiving and I hope that everybody has a wonderful day filled with great memories.

Veggie Final

Hello everbody!!! I am stressing out right about now. I have a final in one of my classes where I have to make a drive thru menu for a restaurant, but the thing is that it has to be a veggie themed place. Doing this project has me very confused at this very moment. I know places exist that just focus on veggitarians and vegans, but this project is going to have my mind exhausted trying to figure out what dishes to include and then I have to make a web page for it and a menu. There are a lot of parts for this one final, but hopefully I will be able to get it together and hopefully pass this class.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Review

Modern Warfare 2 is the follow up the hit game, Modern Warfare. The story takes place when Russia goes to war with the United States. The game looks very good and the story is pretty good. The campaign mode in the game is kind of short and it is only three acts. Where Modern Warfare 2 shines at is the Multi - player aspect. The Multi - player is very strong and that is where a lot of your time will be put into the game. The new mode that the people at Infinity Ward put in was the Special - Ops mode. Special - Ops is a two player mode where you and a friend go through certain points in the game and you have to accomplish a bevy of different tasks. This is a very fun mode in the game that makes the game play longer and more addictive. I recommend that people pick this up and at least rent the game, this could be a sleeper game of the year contender.

Hello everybody! How was everybody's week going so far? My week is going good so far. I finally got my group project back in TCM 22000 and I got an "A". The paper was very difficult because we had to go out and do interviews with people in our fields and it took me a while to find the people that I wanted to interview. Doing this paper made me realize that people in my field do not work in groups and the fact that grammar plays such an important role in their fields. See everybody in class this week.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Controversy

Even before the release of Modern Warfare 2 yesterday, the people over at Activision are already in a firestorm of negativity. When people found out that in one of the scenes in the game, a airport is hi-jacked by terrorists and they go a shoot innocent civilians and security guards patrolling the airport. People are up in arms about the scene because you can choose and play the scene, they give people the choice of either playing the scene or skipping it. I know that it is bad, but what is the difference between this scene and something like the movie Die Hard. Why is it that a movie can do something like this and it is okay, but when a video game does it, everybody is all up in arms about it. Why is it when a video game does something, people always want to protest it.

November 11th

Hello, everybody how was your weekend? Finally did my group presentation in TCM and it went very well. We did a project on writing in the work place. We had to interview people in our fields and ask them about writing at their jobs. I was very surprised that their is not a lot of group writing, but all of our interviews said that grammar is very important in writing documents. Hopefully, my group will get a very good grade because we worked very hard on it.

Video Game Project

As I am working on my project, I ran into a mental block. I'm trying to make the story for my game very dynamic and I can't get my story to flow from my opening scene that I made over the past week. I like how it's going, but I don't know where to start the next scene at. I am trying to figure out if I want to start it from before he joins the gang or start it from when he is already in the gang. I figured out what my main gangs in the gang are going to be, now I am trying to figure out what are they going to look like. The five I made have a nice backstory i made, but incorporating them into the story is a lot harder than I thought it would be. I'll post more when I think of some more to add.

November 2nd

Hi everybody! How was everybody's Halloween? My weekend was not that great. All my teams lost and I had a lot of homework that I had to get finished. Hopefully this week I will be able to get some time in on my blog and knock out my report and my exams. I hope everybody had a good weekend and see all of you in class this week.

Cover Art

Hello everybody, how are you guys and gals doing today? I was browsing through my music and I came across an interesting cover on one of my albums. The name of the CD is "K.O.D." by an artist named Tech N9ne. The art on the cover caught my eye when i first saw it and i liked the scene that it depicted. I liked how the artist is looking and how the crows fly past him. It looks like a desolate, dark place that the artist wants you to see. The vibe of it makes you think that the album is going to be very dark. I am working on a video game for my final project and I would like to make a cover like that, if I am making a horror game because that could be a very good cover for it. Here is the cover:

Game Story

So far I have been making the backstory for all of the factions in the game. It is coming out ok so far. I have made the back story for three of my factions so far, it's kind of hard coming up with ideas, but hopefully I can make all of them including the main good group really good and interesting. Game of the Future

I have been working on my video game that I want to develop. I have came up with what the bad guys I want in the game to look like. I came up with the opening scene and more. I want the game to play like Gears of War and Ninja Gaiden, I want it to be an action adventure game that has an open world feel to it. The art direction I want to go is either realistic like Grand Theft Auto IV or like a cell shaded look like Boarderlands. Hopefully in a few years, I will be able to bring this game to life and release it.

Bad Sports Weekend

Hello to all. I have had a bad sports weekend. My college team, the Michigan Wolverines got outplayed by the Penn State Nitny Lions and now my Tampa Bay Bucs are getting smacked around by the New England Patriots. And as I type this the Bucs just scored. Everybody have a good Sunday.

Music Games Idea

With the upcoming releases of DJ Hero, Band Hero, and Lego Rock Band... everybody always argues with which game is better and what music genre is better. I had a wild idea of making a action game about different types of music, like the just released Brutal Legend, but with more music genres in it. Have like five or six worlds and each one is designed to fit a certain music genre. You use the music you receive to fight through each world to get the ultimate instrument to that genre of music. For example, maybe a turntable for rap and hip hop, a keyboard or piano for classical, or a guitar for rock and roll. Instead of just putting in one type of music, lets mix them all together to see what can happen.

Hi everybody!!! How was everybody's weekend? I'm in class typing this up because I have ideas for my future game popping into my head right now. I want my game to have RPG or Role Playing elements in it, like a level up system. As you progress in the game, you character gets stronger for the upcoming tougher levels and missions. I want to have a balance between as you get stronger, the game gets harder. You can still get through it, but instead of being easier it gets tougher like Ninja Gaiden. I want boss fights in the game make the player have to think and not just do the strongest move over and over, they will have to have a strategy going into the fight.

Boarderlands Review

All I can say is WOW!!! This game is so much fun, that i barely made it to school today because of it. Boarderlands is a mix of playstyle of Call of Duty and Dungeons and Dragons. It is a very fast action paced game, but it mixes in Role Playing elements that makes it unique. The grahics are cell-shaded and it looks like a comic book. The game is about tresure hunting on the make believe planet of Pandora. You choose from one of four playable people. The game is very good and I highly recommend it to anybody who is a fan of shooter games.

Simpson's Halloween Special

Tonight, the Simpson's are doing their 20th Halloween. The first part was a Alfred Hitchcock spoof, where Bart and Lisa scheme to kill each others teachers, but at the end Lisa and Mrs. Krabapple were actually setting Bart up which was pretty funny. The second part was a 28 Days Later and a Dawn of the Dead spoof. It is pretty funny so far, Krusty the Clown made a new burger and it is tainted and turned whoever eats it into a zombie or "muncher". The cure to stop the zombies or "munchers' was that they had to eat Bart or have him bathe in their food so they can get the cure as well. The third and final part was a musical, so I skipped it and watched the game.

Dreaming Ideas for my game

When i graduate from school, I want to get into the video game field. I always have thoughts going through my head for what I want in it, but I always want it to be a long, epic journey. I'm always thinking about the story that I want to put in it, but everything is so messy and out of order, it's going to take me a while to figure out my story.

DJ Hero

At first, I was very skeptical about this game, but now after seeing it in action and listening to some of the music, I must say that I am looking forward to this game. It has 93 mixes you play and it comes with a turntable shaped controller. The graphics look very good and I will tell everybody about when I get my hands on it.

Weekend Post

Hi everybody, how is your weekend going? Didn't go out this weekend, I used my time to catch up on my school work and finish up some projects I had due. Watched football for most of the weekend and now the first BCS polls are out. Florida, number 1 and Bama, number 2. Lets see how things go from here.

Ideals for future game

As I'm typing my blog, I thought of some ideals for my game so I am just writing them down. Trying to see if I get piece everything together:

1. I want to make it an open world style game.
2. Trying to think between present day or post apocolyptic setting.
3. I want it to incorporate some gameplay style from Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto or Saints Row, and Splinter Cell.
4. I want it to be a long, epic action adventure game.

Monday October 12th

Whats up everybody, how was your weekend. All my sports teams loss and that makes me sad. Finally got my Comparison Report first draft done, so I'm happy. Brutal Legend comes out tomorrow, I will give everyone the heads up on it if it is a buy or rent.

Ideals for future project

I'm sitting down right now just resting up for my next class and I had some ideals pop into my head. I had a little back story I came up with but i'm working on the details now. All I can say now is that it's about a underground society and how a team of four Agents went rogue after they found out what the society is really about. That's all I have right now, hopefully I can come up with some more ideals to make this story really good and very deep.

Big Day Today

Hello evertbody, today is judgement day for my group. In my Visualizing Information class my group has to give our presentation on our internet game about tomatoes. Everybody did their part, now we have to see if everybody else likes what we came up with. I'll post pictures up of what we did later on today or tomorrow. See you guys and girls next week.

Another Rhythm Music Game Release

After the release of Guitar Hero 5 and The Beatles' Rockband, the makers of Guitar hero are giving the public another game, but this time for the Hip hop heads and Rap fans. Activision is releasing "DJ Hero". DJ Hero releases later on this year I think around November. Instead of using a Guitar shaped controller, the player now will use a turntable style controller with cross faders and three colored buttons. The playlist for looks pretty good and I am kind of excited to see how it will play. The game features mixes by some famous DJs like Daft Punk, DJ Jazzy Jeff and no Fresh Prince before anyone says it, and many others. One feature i like is that if you have the Guitar Hero Guitar, some songs on the game can have a DJ and a Guitar perform through the song. I'll go into it more when I see some more info on it.

Boarderland

An upcoming game release that I am waiting for is Boarderland for the XBOX 360 game system. The game comes out October 20th and it looks very promising. The gameplay itself is nothing really innovative, but the art direction has really caught my eyes the more I see it. The look of it is kind of like a comic book in motion. It has four player cooperation in it, so three of my friends and I can all play and enjoy the story together. After I have had a chance to play it, I will tell you guys if it is worth a buy or not. Big Midterm

WOW!!!, finally got done with my group midterm project that is due tomorrow. It was a lot of work but we all did our parts and got it done. After we do our presentations tomorrow, I'll put up some pictures of what we came up with. I like what we did and I think if we were to make it for real and had a budget for it, the game could come out very well and be pretty great, but that's just my opinion.

QUICK Thought

As I was looking at ads and videos for games, I came across a weird combo coming out soon I think. The same people that made Rock Band a music game like Guitar Hero, that is very popular, now they are making a LEGO Rock Band, yes you heard correct, a LEGO Rock Band. I don't know how it will work, but let's see how this works and where they go from here. Here is a picture of the cover for it.

October 7th

Hello everybody, how are you guys doing? Today as I was watching TV, I saw a commercial for an upcoming video game called "Brutal Legend" made by Tim Schaffer, who was responsible for the very underated and funny "Psychonauts". Seeing this video game opened my eyes up to the possibility of if the music genre and the action or adventure video game genre were to be put together perfectly in one game. It could very well be the best game in either genre. Here are a couple of screenshots from the game. If this game goes well and sells a lot, it could open up a bevy of creative games coming out of this genre.

Wed. September 30

Hello everybody, how are things going. As I was working the past couple of days, I came across a something that caught my eye, one thing that caught my eye was when I was working on a project for another class. For my Visualizing class, a group of my classmates and I have to make a internet game and add for 9-12 year olds, but the catch was that we can only use the colors black, white, and shades of grey. As I was working on this it hit me, if we had a little more time to work on this it could be a pretty good game if made right.

Hello everybody, how are you guys and girls doing. As I was hanging out with a couple of my friends and we were playing some video games, I had a couple of ideals for games that could be pretty good, I just wish i would have wrote them down. As I look around and play games, I notice that multi-player is becoming bigger and bigger in the video game communtity. Some games are going away from having a deep story to having a very big multi-player aspect. I'm love multi-player games as much as the next gamer, but I think you need to have a deep story as well to make the game even more in depth and better. To me a good example of this is Bioshock 2. This first installment of this game was just a single player experience that was one of the best games I have played in a long time. In the second one, they are going to expand on the story and now they are adding multi-player to it that looked very good. Hey Hey

What's up everybody, it's me again. How is everybody doing. Finally finished doing some big projects for some of my other classes. Still kind of struggling in making a picture mean two different things but I think i got it right finally. Went out and bought myself a treat by getting two new games for my XBOX 360. I bought Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and NFL Madden 2010. I've been playing games not as much as I use to, but i'm playing now trying to get ideals for a video game i've been wanting to make for a long time and also see what some of the latest video games have to offer. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is a Role Playing slash Adventure game with everybody's favorite Super Heroes from Marvel like; Spider Man, the X-Men, and Iron Man. It also has some heroes that people might not know. NFL Madden 2010 is a American Football sim I got because I love football and I love to rebuild teams to see what I can do. Hopefully, taking all of these classes will help with computers so I can have a better understanding of programming and design. I'll probably have to take some kind of art class so I can draw a little better. Well, I guess I will see you guys in class later on today, Goodbye.

What's Up!!!

What's up, hello classmates it's me again. I had a good weekend, did alot of work, kind of struggling on my assignment for the class but I'll get it done. Watched football pretty much when I wasn't studying. My favorite team had a last second win against their rivals, Michigan 38 to Notre Dame 34. GO BLUE!!! Finished up writing a manual for TCM 22000, Technical Report Writing, turning that in tomorrow. Well, I guess I will see everybody Wednesday for class. Have a good day.

Day 2

Hello to everybody, it's a wonderful day, how's everybody doing. Today is my long day and i'm here from 1 til 9 and my first class today is Design Issues in Digital Media, the second assignment in the class was kinda hard but kinda easy because changing the main ideal around was easy but coming up with a ideal was the tough part to do. The assignment was fun because it made me actually think and not just try and take the easy way out on it. What did everybody think of the assignment?

Introduction

Hello to everyone in NEWM N201, Design Issues in Digital Media. My name is Christopher LaMont Carraway. I am 22 years old and I am a Freshman at IUPUI. My major is Media Arts and Science and my minor is Informatics. After I graduate from IUPUI, I would like to get into the Video Game business. My dream job would be being a, Video Game designer, Computer Technician, and anything else in the Video Game field. I would like to visit the East and West Coast in the future because I have a lot of friends out there that I haven't seen in a long time.

My likes are:

• Any sports
• Any music but country and bluegrass
• Playing Video Games with my friends, XBOX360 right now
• Cruising around with my friends
• Eating and Sleeping

I really don't have any dislike, I'm usually a cool person and nothing really rattles me or get under my skin.

Hopefully, while I am in this class, I can make some more friends because, you can't have too many friends. Well, I will see you guys in class every Wednesday, be safe and have fun.
